Wayne R. Deckard, 81, of Bloomington, died Tuesday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Dec. 15, 1919, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Byron and Sally (Cardwell)
Deckard. He was a graduate of Smithville High School.

He was retired from Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center and was a Marine Corps
veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, NARFE and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Betty R. Deckard of Bloomington; his daughters and
sons-in-law, Marlene and Bryan Rice of Bloomington and Suzanne and Phillip Walls
of Lafayette, La.; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Stephen and Connie Parks
of Stanford and Michael and Pam Parks of Green Forest, Ark.; one brother,
Kenneth Deckard of Bloomington; two sisters, Kay Walls of Bloomington and Joan
Skirvin of Martinsville; four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home with Michael Hogg
officiating. Burial will be at Cloverhill Cemetery, where military rites will be
conducted by the American Legion/VFW Honor Guard.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
