Mrs. Mary Elizabeth NesSmith, a former resident of Lake City, Florida, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the age of 85. She was born February 07, 1927. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 3:00pm at Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City, Florida. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. NesSmith is survived by her son, Lt Col (R) Stan NesSmith (Peggy) of Millbrook, Alabama, and her daughter, Mrs. Lisa Farmer (Cleve) of Glen St. Mary, Florida; four grandsons, Chris NesSmith, Scott NesSmith (Brittany), Dillon NesSmith and Brandon NesSmith; two great grandchildren, Tyler Dre NesSmith and Ann Shelton NesSmith, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Mabra Drew NesSmith; son, Thomas NesSmith; parents, Thomas and Nettie Avery; two brothers, Jay Avery and Roy Avery and two sisters, Betty Deckard and Zona Ziedrich. Mrs. NesSmith was an Army wife for over 25 years while traveling overseas and caring for her family. She loved politics, ballroom dancing, traveling and cooking. Mrs. NesSmith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who never met a stranger and loved to help people. She loved her family unconditionally and will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 1:00pm until service time at Guerry Funeral Home.
