Widow of Allegan County's First Probate Judge Succumbs to Typhoid.
Mrs. Oka Town, aged 82 years, died Tuesday morning at her home in Allegan of typhoid fever. Four children survive. Her maiden name was Sarah Eldred and she married Hon. Oka Town 61 years ago. Mr. Town, who died in 1895, was the first probate Judge of Allegan county, a member of the constitutional convention of 1850 and a representative from this county to the first legislature to convene at Lansing after the state capitol was moved there. Mrs. Town was a sister of Mrs. M. G. Higgins and Mrs. Fred Nelson of this place. She is survived by two sons, Frank and Carlton Town, and two daughters. For years Mr. and Mrs. Town lived on their farm in this township, the one now owned by Frank Town. Mr. Town was buried in Mountain Home cemetery here. The funeral was held at the home in Allegan at 10 o'clock this forenoon, and interment was made in the family lot here.
