The Chico Enterprise, Chico, CA, Monday Evening, December 13, 1909: Mrs. Summers Is Laid To Rest. The funeral of Mrs. Harriet Melvina Summers, who died Saturday at her home at Salem and Butte streets in Barber, was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the mortuary parlors of Mrs. M.E. Engle on Broadway.
Rev. Mr. White of the First Presbyterian church was the officiating minister, and the pall bearers were Herman Sloat, John Maffey, James Bauchman, Thomas Ashby, William Corey and Fred Lane.
The deceased was 59 years of age and had been a resident of California for twenty-five years, coming to Chico about fifteen months ago from Sisson. Death was due to dropsy.
The deceased is survived by her husband, John Summers; two sons, Charles of Hilt, Siskiyou county, and James of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. J.W. Benner of Chico.
