Cora Widen was born September 1 , 1900 , on a farm north west of Concordia,
daughter of Ole and Mary (Nystrom) Hammer, and died at the Concordia Rest
Home June 14 at the age of 80.
She attended Norway High School. She was married to Clarence L. Widen
at Norway October 15, 1919. They farmed in the Norway community before moving
to Concordia in 1957. She operated the lunchroom at the west sale barn in Concordia
for 31 years, and was employed at the River Road Restaurant.
She was a member of the Norway United Methodist Church; a charter
member of the Sunny Circle Club; a member of the RJH and Booster Clubs at
Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 15, 1977; her parents;
two sisters; one brother. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs.
Paul (Clarice) Pruitt; three sons, Max Widen, Bud Widen, and Cork Widen; two
sisters, Mrs. Esther Stensaas, and Mrs. Mabel Gardner; 18 grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 16 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel in Concordia,
Rev. Harry E. Graves officiating. Burial was in Saron Lutheran Cemetery north
Of Concordia., Sibley TWP.
