George had a daughter Mabel Irene Arbogast 1912-2007 and he adopted his sister Flora's children.

Centerville--George Doyle Akes, 83, longtime resident of Centerville who resided at 501 E. Short St., passed away at his home Thursday, July 6, 1972 at 1:10 a.m. He had been in ill health the past year.

Born March 9, 1889 in Missouri, he was the son of William and Mary Elizabeth Ernst Akes. He was married to Lillian Frances Ward in Albany, Missouri and she preceded him in death. In 1939 he was united in marriage with Margaret Corporan and she survives.

Mr. Akes had lived in Centerville for 55 years and had been employed by Fullers Mfg. Co. He attended Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death wre his parents, an infant son and a sister, Flora Powell.

Survivors besides his widow include a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Arbogast of Centerville; a grandson, two great grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Dora Northcutt of South Haven Kansas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from Miller-Wehrie Funeral Home. Rev. Olen Adams, pastor of Grace Tabernacle Biptist Church will officate and Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
