"Though never called to take a very prominent part in public affairs, there is evidence that Theophilus Redfield commanded the respect and esteem of the community in which he lived. He was frequently appointed on imporant committees in the management of town affairs, and at a day when military titles, however humble, had some weight, was known as 'Sargeant (sic) Redfield' "
The gravesites of five of the children of Theophilus are yet undiscovered on Findagrave. They are: (1) Richard, b. 18 Jun 1711, d. 2 Feb 1771; (2) Lydia, wife of Benj. Leete, b. 9 Feb 1715/6, d. 16 Dec 1784; (3) Theophilus, b. 6 Sep 1718, d. 30 Jan 1770; (4) William, b. 5 Dec 1727, d. Jul 1813; and (5) James, b. 29 Mar 1735, d. 3 Apr, 1788.
