VIRGINIA BEACH - Alex Leon Jones, 77, of 2240 Salem Road, the husband of Mrs. Lida C. Jones and a son of Joseph and Mrs. Jennie Jones, died in a hospital Saturday at 2:30 a.m.
A native of Camden County, N.C., he was a Methodist and a retired farmer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. George D. Holzer, of Chesapeake and Mrs. Warren Smith and Mrs. Joe F. Cone of Virginia Beach; five stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Road, Monday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Emory Ellmore of Salem Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at 2234 Salem Road, Virginia Beach.
