A retired nurse with 40 years service, Mrs. Holzer was a Norfolk County native and the widow of George D. Holzer Sr.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan F. Poythress of Chesapeake; son, George Donald Holzer Jr. of Phoenix; two sisters, Margaret Smith of Richmond and Alma Cone of Knotts Island, N.C.; two brothers, Jack Jones of Knotts Island and Howard Jones of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, Johnnie, Jamie, Jodie, Jennifer, Virginia, Susan, Mark, Scott and Steve; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
