Mrs. Thetus Brooks, widow of the late A. J. Brooks, who was one of the county's most prominent men, died Friday afternoon about 3 o'clock of paralysis, after
having been afflicted for nearly three years, during which time she was confined to her bed a great deal. Mrs. Brooks was a daughter of the late B. D. Austin and was 73 years of age. She was a member of Marshville Baptist church and was a most excellent woman, having reared a large family of seven sons and one daughter, seven of whom survive, C. S. Brooks having died several years ago. Mrs. T. J. Perry of Wingate, Mrs. Permelia Griffin of Charlotte and B. D. Austin of
Wingate are her surviving brothers and sisters. The surviving sons are Drs. W. B. Brooks and Fred Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn., F. A. Brooks, C. B. Brooks of Charlotte, Wayne Brooks of Camden, N. J., George Brooks who lived at the home place in Marshville township, and the daughter is Mrs. C. C. Thomas of Monroe township. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Brooks home by Rev. J. A. Snow and Rev. A. Marsh, and the interment was in the Marshville cemetery by the side of her husband.
