Alice Burgess, 82, of Monroe, died on Oct 27, 2010. She was born on Sept. 10,1928, to Leila and Paul Allen in Morgan County. She lived most of her life in Monroe and was employed at Walton Mills.
Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathy Burgess and Gary and Jennifer Burgess, all of Morgan County; daughter, Ann Hamilton and James Mitchell, of Monroe; sisters, Irene and P.N. White, Nina and Sterling Nix, all of Monroe; brothers, James and Sarah Allen, of Monroe, and Eugene and Barbara Allen, of Stockbridge; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Oct. 29 at Hill Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Don Malcom officiating. Meadows Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
