Former Resident of Eugene, Indiana, Dies At
Home of Lawrence Naylor
Mrs. Sarah Melissa Cummings, 76, of Eugene, Indiana, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Naylor, 1104 Perrysville Avenue, Thursday, afternoon at 2:30 o'clock following an illness with complications. Mrs. Cummings had made her home with her daughter here during the winter months for the past ten years.
She was born at Elmwood, Illinois, March 31, 1857, a daughter of Josephus and Elizabeth Stanfield Murdock. Surviving her are three children, George W. Cummings, Alex K. Cummings and Mrs. Lawrence Naylor, all of Danville, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her husband James, preceded her in death eleven years ago.
Funeral services will be held from the Eugene M.E. Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Mr. Lawless officiating. Interment will be in the Eugene Cemetery with Berhalter in charge. The body will remain at the home of he daughter here until taken to Eugene for the funeral.
Short services will be held at the Naylor home here Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock prior to taking the body to Eugene.
