A memorial service is to be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 20, at Red Hill Cemetery, Slate Shoals Road, in Powderly.
"John, Mama, Grandma Johnnie, Gigi and Aunt John" as she was called, was one of eleven children born to Mary Lou and Brock Coward. She was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters," and was proud to serve in the war effort while so many of her loved ones fought on foreign soil.
She was a longstanding member of Bedford Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joel Reese Conder; and her daughters, Luticia Caroline Brown and Kathy Rebecca Peebles.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Addy of Powderly; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mark Ehmann; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Brown Killian, Jeff Peebles, Courtney Holcomb, Lindsay Harper, Justin Challis, Amber Ferguson and Stephanie Challis; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Maci, Sophi, Henry, Kate, Bailey and Jack; honorary family member Dorian Fox; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt John.
The family would like to express their gratitude to those who took care of Johnnie in her last months, Thea Cherry, Dorothy Addy, Bronis Ramsey, Laura Green, Christine Bickle, Elizabeth Kettle, Callie Stubbs, Amber Ferguson and her fierce protector, Quilla
