Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, at the Durant Cemetery. Pallbearers are David Clark, Rick Mayes, Jim Mayes, Greg Mayes, Louis Fowler and Mike Halferty. Honorary pallbearers are Heather Marshall, Maci Hagen and Heath Mayes. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa, with full Military Honors conducted by the Durant American Legion Post #430.
Ronald Dale Mayes was born February 2, 1952, in Davenport, the son of William and Zella (Glines) Mayes. He graduated from Durant High School in 1970. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Ralston Purina Company in Davenport, until he retired. He enjoyed NASCAR, restoring cars, hanging out in his garage and listening to music with his friends. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family and granddaughter.
Surviving are one daughter, Heather Marshall of Stockton; one son, Heath (Sandra) Mayes of Europe; one granddaughter, Maci Hagen; two sisters, Sharon Whitbeck of Davenport and Bonnie Robertson of Spartenburg, SC; three brothers, Richard, James and Gregory Mayes, all of Davenport; and one sister-in-law, Debbie Mayes of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Mayes and one nephew, James Virgil.
