In 1880 he and his parents and his three brothers lived on a farm in Pike Township, Coshocton County, OH.

In 1900 he and his parents, five of his siblings (all except Melvin), and a cousin, 18-year-old Viola Phillips (his mother's sister Amanda's daughter), lived there on the farm, which they owned, mortgage free.

In 1910 he and his wife, their son, and her parents lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Fallsbury Township, Licking County, OH.

In 1920 he and Etta, their son, and her mother lived there.

In 1930 just he and his wife and their son lived there. They did have a radio.
