Obituary:
On Saturday, forenoon, the many friends of Mr. Luden Dean were shocked to hear of his sudden death that morning at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Dean had arisen early in the morning to build a fire. Having done this he returned to bed. A little later he arose again complaining of very severe pains in the back of his head. He was assisted to a lounge and almost fell upon it. Medical aid was summoned but to no purpose as he died soon after the arrival of the physician. About three weeks ago Mr. Dean fell from a ladder while working at the home of Prof. J.H. Brumbaugh, being rendered unconscious for a time. It is believed that injuries were then received which terminated in his death.
Luden B. Dean was born in Juniata township, Jan. 31, 1838, being aged at the time of his death 66 years, 2 months and 2 days. By occupation he was a carpenter and contractor. There survive him his wife and one son, Watson and one daughter, Miss Ella K. The deceased was a consistent member of the Baptist church. Short services will be held at his home 1021 Mifflin street, Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock. The remains will then be taken to Union church where further services will be held followed by interment there.
