Rosa Lily Burnham Orr was born August 4, 1883 in Meta, Mo. to Job and Martha Ann Burnham. She grew to young womanhood there and at an early age was baptized in the Christian Church near Meta.
She died following an extended illness in a Pueblo hospital July 1, 1961 at the age of 77 years, 11 months.
On November 18, 1900 she was united in marriage to John Washington Orr at the Christian Church near Meta. To this union four children were born: Floyd, who died in infancy, Ida Matilda Orr, who is now Mrs. Audra C. King, of Rocky Ford; Nellie Olive Orr, who is now Mrs. Charles L. Adamson, of Springfield; and Arvel Lee Orr, of Lamar.
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Orr moved to Prowers County in 1918 from Meta. They farmed near Hartman and Lamar before moving to Lamar in 1938 to make their home. They resided at 806 S. 2nd st. They were both members of the First Christian Church in Lamar.
Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1954.
Mrs. Orr was one of eight children. Her parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. One brother, John Burnham, of Iberia, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Jan Roberts, of Meta, survive her. Other relatives include eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
