Sena Mary Anderson was born on 14 Feb 1877 in Hestlund, Ringkobing Amt, Denmark to Anders Christensen and Elise Johanne Petersen, the fourth of five children from the marriage. Sena emigrated from Hestlund, Denmark to Concord, Massachusetts with her family in 1881, following the death of her father, reportedly while saving the life of Christian IX, the king of Denmark. Her mother's sister and family had previously emigrated to Concord in the 1870's. Following her graduation from the Boston YWCA School for Domestics, Sena Anderson moved to Evanston, Illinois and worked for a period of time as a live-in maid for a lawyer and his family. When her sister Stena followed her to Evanston, married a seminary student and moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota to her husband's first church, Sena moved with them. In Hutchinson, Minnesota on 6 Jul 1911 Sena Anderson married John Betker Christensen and from the marriage had three children, Doris Grace born in 1914, Arthur Harold in 1916 and George Emanuel in 1920. Sena Mary Anderson Christensen died on 12 Dec 1922 in Hutchinson, Minnesota and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
