Anna V. Gregorash, nee Thomas, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2010 with her three children at her side, after living a rich and remarkable life.

Anna was born on March 29, 1912 in Hibbing, Minnesota to the late Michael and Pauline (nee Bozich) Thomas*. In 1926 she moved to Joliet where she met Anton "Tony" Gregorash. They were married on April 30, 1930.

* Maiden Name - Initially was TOMAC but changed to THOMAS by Anna's father, Michael Tomac

In 1936 they moved to Sunnyland in Plainfield into a one room house, and in 1939 moved down the street into a home that Tony built himself for his family. She remained in her treasured home until her health declined earlier this year. She was a tailor, making suits for Hart Schaffner and Marx in her early years, and will forever fondly be remembered for her heart full of love that was expressed through her baking, quilting and embroidery work. Ann was a long-time Chicago Cub fan.

Anna is survived by her children, Mae Rose (Ralph) Nash, Donald (JoAnne) Gregorash, and Judith (late Robert) Homan, one brother, John (late Mary) Thomas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann was a proud grandmother of fourteen, a proud great grandmother of fifty, and a proud great-great grandmother of eighteen. Also survived her late brother Edward's wife, Eleanore Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Anton Gregorash, their infant son Eugene, her six sisters, Marian (late, Rudolph) Crnkovich, Kathleen (late, Ted) Gladkowski, Agnes Thomas, Frances (late Anthony) Morello, Margaret (late, Louis) Von Behren and Betty (late, Harry) Kranz, and six of her brothers, Casmir Thomas, Anthony (late, Matilda) Thomas, Stephan (late, Mame) Thomas, Edward (Eleanore) Thomas, Clarence Thomas, and Raymond (late Victoria) Thomas.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Lakewood Nursing Home and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their tender-hearted and compassionate care.
