LELA LEE HOBSON GANTT

Mrs. Lela Lee Hobson Gantt, 90, of McComb and former resident of Lexington, died Friday, May 21, 1999 at McComb Extended Care of heart failure.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 23 at Hebron Methodist Church near Lexington. Rev. Maston Prewitt officiated. Burial was in the Hebron Church Cemetery with Catchings Funeral Home of McComb in charge of arrangements.

She was born February 25, 1909 in Carro1l County, the daughter of John Newton Hobson and Allie Ganey Hobson. She was a member of Hebron Methodist Church where she was active in the church since 1924. She also had an interest in the cemetery.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Lexington and a member of the Brozville Home Demonstration Club. While a resident of McComb Extended Care she made many friends, and spent a lot of her time putting together jigsaw puzzles, many of which are framed and on display.

Mrs. Gantt was a retired employee of Craney floral Company as a flower designer with 19 years experience. She also worked as a LPN at Holmes County Hospital for several years. She was the widow of Aaron Lee Gantt.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nora Gantt Devine of McComb; two sons, Doyle Steven Gantt of Newberry, South Carolina and Thomas G. Gantt of Lexington; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
