On 09-18-1835 he married Elizabeth Baker near Ankenytown, Knox Co., OH. She was the daughter of Philip Baker, Sr. & Catharine (Brollier) Baker. They raised the first 4 children born to them in Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH.
On 10-13-1842 moved his wife and 4 small children by wagon from Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., Ohio to Washington Twp., Kosciusko Co., Indiana. They reportedly spent their last 6 weeks in a log cabin on present day site of Pierceton, Indiana. Purchased farm land in December of 1842 designated as school lands on Section 16, Washington Twp., Kosciusko Co., where they raised the remainder of their family and spent the rest of their lives. This land was reportedly "covered with timber" and "none had ever been cut except by Indians or by early settlers for coons or bees."
He was a farmer and served as Justice of the Peace for Washington Twp. for 5 years. Abraham and Elizabeth were members of the German Baptist faith.
