Luke F, Beckman, 87, 4277 Lange Rd., St. Henry, died Tuesday. He had been ill since July 1987. Mr. Beckman, before retirement, had been president of Minster Canning Co. and was active for many years in St. Henry civic activities. He was born January 4, 1901 in St. Henry, son
of Henry and Clara (Goettemoeller) Beckman. On October 7, 1925 he was married to Lorine Stammen, who preceded him in death November 30, 1966. He then was married October 18, 1968 to Marie Sutter, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Thieman, Minster;
and Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Niekamp, St. Henry; four step-children, Mrs. Charles (Eileen) Whitsett, St. Henry; Mrs. Paul (Ester) Horn, Kettering; Mrs. John (Patricia) McCarthy, Cincinnati; and Jerome Sutter, Dayton; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Gast, St. Henry; Mrs. Eva Schritz, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and Mrs. Mary Agnes Winkeljohn, Albuquerque, N.M.; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. One daughter, Pat Post, and one brother, Albert, preceded
him in death. Mr. Beckman had been president of the St. Henry board of Education, village council and board of public affairs. He was an active member of the St. Henry Catholic Church and had held offices in the Mercer County Elks, commercial Club and Knights of Columbus in St.
Henry of which he was a charter member. He was state chairman of the Manpower Commission and chairman of the Industrial Draft Board of Ohio during World War II. He was past president of the National and State Food Processors' Association and served on its national legislative committee in Washington, D.C. Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Church, the Rev. Joseph Pax officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Hogenkamp's Funeral
