George L. Pierson died at his home on Fourth Street in this city, Monday evening. He had been in failing health for months, suffering from tuberculosis. Early last fall when this dread disease first made its appearance he went west in the hopes that the climate would prove beneficial, but he gradually grew worse and when he returned home a few weeks ago, it was plain to all friends and neighbors that he could live but a short time. Death came as a sweet sleep. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. Ackley, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Whipple cemetery.
George L. Pierson was born in Wright township, September 1st, 1855, making him at the time of his death 53 years and 8 months of age. He has lived in this community near all his life. He was a faithful hard-working man and was well thought of by everyone.
On April 30, 1878, he was married to Miss Etta F. Barnes, and to this union six children were born, three of whom are dead, leaving the wife two daughters and one son to mourn the death of husband and father.
