Leota, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Pierson, was born in Kansas on the 18th day of October, 1880. When a mere babe her parents moved to this county and have resided here ever since. Here Leota grew up to young womanhood and one who on account of her pleasing manners and treatment of all associates was loved and respected by all her acquaintances. At the age of 15 years she united with the Central Church, this city, and has lived a faithful Christian life ever since. While health permitted she was very active in church work.

About a year ago that dreaded disease quick consumption, took hold of her, and she began to fail in health very rapidly. The very best of medical skill was brought in consultation in her case, but no encouragement was given. Some four months ago she was taken to Brighton, Colorado, in the hopes that a change of climate would prove beneficial, but she failed to realize any material benefit from the change, and gradually grew weaker until Thursday last, she breathed her last.

The remains were brought home for burial, and the services were held in the Central Church Sunday afternoon, at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. F. Mack. The remains were laid to rest in the Whipple Cemetery, beside her younger sister, who died less than one year ago.
