CHICAGO LADY BROUGHT TO GRISWOLD FOR BURIAL

Talitha Pierson Barr daughter to the late Granville and Elizabeth Pierson, was born in Pottawattamie county, Iowa, September 4, 1857 [sic], and passed away in Chicago, March 3, 1935, aged 76 years, 3 months and 21 days. She grew to womanhood in this part of Iowa and was united in marriage at Atlantic, Iowa, on January 22, 1879, to J. M. Barr. This union was blessed with eleven children, six daughters and five sons. Three of the children Ada, Irene and Curtis, died in infancy. Those who survive are: Mrs. Ida Chambers and Mrs. Oda Warhutt of Newton, Kansas; James Barr, of Edmunton, Canada; Mrs. Edna Robinson, Ralph Barr, William Barr and Elizabeth Barr, of Chicago, and Robert Barr, of Omaha. There are also eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Three brothers, Milton and John Pierson, of Griswold, and James Pierson, of Elliott, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Worth, of Lewis, Mrs. Sophronia Smith, of Mankato, Kansas, and Mrs. Emaline Perkins, of Seattle, Washington, besides numerous other close relatives and friends.

A short funeral service was held in Chicago Monday afternoon and the remains were shipped to Griswold, arriving Tuesday morning. They were taken to the Wagler Funeral Home in Griswold where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. R. F. Chambers, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Following the services the remains were taken to the Flint cemetery, west of Griswold, where they were laid to rest by the side of the children. Pall bearers were old friends of the deceased. The sympathy of all goes out to those who are left to mourn the passing of this good mother.
