COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Avo Burgess, 94, of Cookeville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burgess died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at her daughter's residence in Baxter. She was a member of Bussell Church of Christ.
Her family includes a son and daughterinlaw, Donnie V. and Helen Burgess of Cookeville; a daughter and soninlaw,
Doris Helen and Armon Nash of Baxter; two brothers and a sisterinlaw, Ned Herren and Claude and Elouise Herren, all of Georgia; three sisters and two brothersinlaw, Rose and Dib Anderson of Cookeville, Mildred and Ralph Gentery of Florida and Jewel Olive of Alabama; five grandchildren, Terry, Freddy and Timothy (Tim) Burgess, Camilla Brown and Reece Nash; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Melonie Anderson Herren; her husband, Haskell Burgess; two brothers, Solon and Clarence (Chip) Herren; and two sisters, Nola King and Ova Allison.
