Mrs. C. J. Saunders
Mrs. C. J. Saunders died last Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at their home on the Turney farm, two miles north of Gilbertsville, of pneumonia, after an illness of about three weeks duration. She had not been considered seriously ill until the last three or four days, and the announcement of her death was a surprise and a great shock to her many friends in this village. Mrs. Saunders was a daughter of Moses and Anna Taylor Wright, and she was born August 11, 1869 in the town of Morris, her maiden name being Nellie Evelyn Wright. She was married to Charles J. Saunders at Unadilla Center Sept. 30, 1886, and to them have been born five children, viz: Mrs. Theron Moller of Garrattsville; Lloyd E., Archie D., Orala and Glenn, the latter being not quite three years of age, who have lived at home. The family moved to the T. A. Willin farm in the town of Butternuts in 1895 and lived on that and several other farms for several years, and for ths past six years have occupied the Turney farm. Mrs. Saunders was in every way a most excellent woman and highly regarded by all who knew her. A good true wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend, she will be mourned, not only by the husband and children, thus so unexpectedly bereaved, but by a wide circle of friends and relatives. The funeral was held from the house on Sunday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. George Summerson of the M. E. church, and members of the Order of the Eastern Star, a large number of the body being present. The remains were placed in the vault in Brookside cemetery.-Journal
