Rionaldo Buxton Chilton Times March 22, 1902

Died – R. A. Buxton was born in Lowville, Lewis County, N. Y., on the 18th day of May 1830, and died at his home in Stockbridge, Calumet County, Wis., march 12th 1902, being 71 years, 9 months and 25 days of age. In infancy he removed with his father's family to Martinsberg, Lewis County, N.Y. When only six years of age he met with a boy's greatest loss in the death of a Christian mother. His boyhood was spent at Martinsberg and vicinity until at the age of sixteen when he left home and came to Wisconsin. Two years later he joined a party of gold seekers and went to California by the over land route. During the years that followed he spent much time in travel, visiting places of interest in United State and South America, until his marriage to Miss Lucy J. Schofield, of Forest, Fond du Lac county.
This union was blessed with the birth of ten children all of whom are living except and infant son, William H. who died the 13th day of May 1878. Soon after his marriage he came with his wife to Stockbridge where he has resided until his death.
The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church having united with the church in boyhood. Through all the years of his life of struggle and suffering he clung to the faith in which he accepted his Saviour and with no fear of death sank quietly to his eternal rest in full hope of a glorious immortality. He was a great sufferer having been in ill health for the greater part of the past 30 years.
He leaves to mourn his loss his companion, Mrs. Lucy J. Buxton, seven sons, Edwin A of Vinton, Iowa, George L of Kirkland, Ill., Albert J. of Wittenberg, Wis., Chas. W. of Prentice, Wis., Herbert E. of Chicago, Richard A and Cecil R. of Stockbridge; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes G. Pettis of Argyle, Ill., and Mrs. Blanchard C Birkett of Winnebago, Ill., besides numerous other relatives and friends.
