In 1984 Verla Withrow Morris wrote a family history of the Withrow ancestors and their descendants from Wayne County, Illinois. This treasure has been the research source for generations of Withrow families. On page 5 it documents the family of Altamira [Alta Myra] Withrow and her husband Issac Weaver. One line in the entry below their names has a death date "10/6/1879, Wayne County, Ill, burial, Hale Cemetery". It is unclear if that date relates to Altamira or Isaac or someone else, but has often been used as a death date for Altamira. Altamira's death date is not certain, but Isaac's tombstone indicates he died in 1908.
Altamira and Isaac had at least eight children. Seven of those are linked to their memorials. The youngest known child, Thomas, was born in April 1879.
Altamira appears in the Wayne County census records with Isaac from 1860 thru 1900. In the 1910 census she is listed as head of household, widow, in Wayne County, living with her son Thomas and his 2 children. She is not listed with them in 1920, nor with any other children still living.
When their son, John Richard Weaver, died in 1909 his obituary listed his survivors as 4 children, his mother and a brother. When daughter, Evaline (Weaver) Filkil, died in 1916, her obituary indicated she was survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. No mention of her mother in 1916.
I can find no death for Altamira in the Illinois death records in ancestry.com from 1916-1947 or in local Wayne County death or obituary records. Several family trees in ancestry show a death year of 1919 but do not provide evidence for this date.
As of Feb. 2022 no confirmed date of death has been located for Altamira.
