Julia had a child out of wedlock with Warren Decker about 1874. They named the child James Decker, presumably after her father. Warren Decker is listed as a "boarder" in the 1875 state census for the Woodcock household and Julia is still single. It is unknown why she and Warren didn't marry.
In 1877 Julia married George Plain who was a farm laborer at the time, but would go on to become a Baptist minister. Their 1880 census shows her son James listed as "James Plain". It is unknown whether or not there was a legal adoption but James used that surname the rest of his life and so did his own son. About 1881 Julia and George had a daughter they named Julia.
Julia's 1880 census says she has "fits". It is unknown what medical condition she had that caused these fits.
State and federal census records show George and Julia at a new location about every five years, most likely he was a roving minister.
After the death of her husband in 1918, Julia went to live with her sister Ella and her family. By 1930 she was living with her grandson Frank E. Plain and his mother Katy. Her son James had passed away prior to the 1930 census.
