Jacob Chenault Bronston Sr was the son of Thomas Springer Bronston Sr (1791–1869) and his wife Lucy Ann Clark (1792 – 1846) of Richmond. T S Bronston's Bible shows his son's name as Jacob Dudley Bronston, but apparently his middle name was changed to Chenault.

Jacob served in the Civil War in Company F 11th Kentucky "Chenault's" Cavalry, CSA

Jacob was married 14 Dec 1864 to Miss Sarah "Sallie" Black 1838–1867, the niece of his elder sister Eliza's husband Samuel Black.

Jake and Sarah had one daughter:

1) Lucy Bronston (1866–1947), w/o Charles Berkley McCord (1864–1939)

He was married again on 6 Oct 1868 to Miss Carrie Evans 1848–1930 (From a copy of marriage record attached to Carrie's 1912 "Widow's Indigent Pension Application")

Jake and Carrie were the parents of 8 children:

3) William S Bronston (1873–1913)

4) Chenault Bronston (1874–aft1880)

5) Mary D Bronston (1875–bef1880)
