Lyle R. Stecher, 80, of Muscatine, Iowa, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Unity Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Muscatine.

Casketbearers will be his grandsons, Brad Stecher, Chad Stecher, Jared Stecher, Justin Stecher, Tyson Beach and Matt Mack. Honorary casketbearers will be his granddaughters, Jill Beach, Lindsay Stecher and Cara Mack.

Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Lyle's name. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral & Cremation Services is caring for Lyle's family and his service.

Lyle Robert Stecher was born September 26, 1924, in Pleasant Prairie, Iowa, the son of Albert E. and Mary (McGee) Stecher. On August, 11, 1951, Lyle was united in marriage to Jo Anne K. Schultz in Davenport, Iowa.

Lyle was a lifetime farmer around the Pleasant Prairie area and a member of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed his tractors, his two dogs, Abbie and Snowball, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Lyle will be deeply missed by his wife, Jo Anne; two sons, Joe Stecher, and his wife, Connie, of Stockton, and Steve Stecher, and his wife, Judy, of Pleasant Prairie; four daughters, Lou Ann Christofferson, of Muscatine, Karen Beach, and her husband, Jim, of Muscatine, Cathy Mack, and her husband, Bernie, of Davenport, and Holly Stecher, of Muscatine; two brothers, Raymond Stecher and Bernard Stecher, and his wife, Leona, both of Durant; and nine grandchildren, Brad Stecher, Jill Beach, Chad Stecher, Jared Stecher, Justin Stecher, Tyson Beach, Matt Mack, Lindsay Stecher and Cara Mack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Bernice Hearst, Alberta Awbrey and Mary Daufeldt, one son-in-law, Steve Christofferson, and one grandson, Brady Mack. (Quad-City Times, Davenport, IA, May 17, 2005)
