Mrs. Effie Carawan Guynn, 73, widow of Harry Alexander Guynn, died Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in her home, 1131 Commerce St., after illness of two months.
A native of Lowland, N.C., she lived in this area the last 32 years. She was a daughter of Marcus and Mrs. Marietta Alcock Carawan. She was a member of South Norfolk Church of Christ.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. G.H. Humphries and Mrs. Lonnie Taylor of South Norfolk, Mrs. J.W. Davenport of Norfolk, Mrs. Daphne Hansen of Chicago and Mrs. Philip Smith of Great Bridge; two sons, Harry Guynn of San Francisco and Robert Guynn of South Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. J.W. Wynn of Goldsboro, N.C.; one brother, Ira Carawan of Hoboken, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in South Norfolk Church of Christ Thursday at 3 p.m. The body will be taken from Graham Funeral Home to the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
