Melba Jane Truitt, 68, of Evansville and formerly of Franklin County, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born May 24, 1942 in Rushville, Indiana to William and Viola (Alter) Gordon.
She was married to Jerry Truitt in August of 1974, and he preceeded her in death on April 2, 2009.
She graduated from Brookville High School in 1960 and attended Indiana Beauty College in 1961, her occupations beside being a Homemaker included, Beautician, Deputy Treasurer of Franklin County and Convenience Store Manager. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Rebekahs. Melba also enjoyed crocheting and knitting as a pastime.
Survivors include her Daugher Jane Downard (Ronnie) of Connersville; Sons, Thomas Truitt (Tabetha) of Swansboro, North Carolina and Timothy Truitt of Evansville, Indiana, Sisters, Patricia Gulley (Bill) of Metamora, Indiana and Linda Alldredge of Evansville, Indiana, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchilde.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Jerry, Truitt, parents, and a Son James (Jim) Gordon.
The visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana 47012. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Ralph Eldridge will officiate the services.
Burial will follow in Metamora Cemetery.
Familty member and friends will serve as pallbearers.
