John was a Piede Indian from Utah. He was born near Payson. He was the adopted son of Henry Nebeker and Harriet Ann Van Wagoner. He was adopted and Baptized 8 August 1856 at the age of 11 years. He was 39 years old at the time of his death. He was not married at the time of his death. John died of fever and chills (Malaria). There is no headstone at his burial site.
