Obituary
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton for Willis Meche, age 95, who passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.
Interment will be in St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Henry J. Broussard, pastor of St. John Berchman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Meche was a native of Church Point and a resident of Prairie Ronde for most of his life. Mr. Meche was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.

Survivors include his wife the former, Julia Leger; one son, Chester Meche both of Prairie Ronde; one brother, Leroy Meche of Lake Charles; one sister, Ezar Lavergne of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ajedie Meche and the former, Azena Boudreaux, both natives of Mire; six brothers, Elton Meche, Hubert Meche, Thurman Meche, Loisy Meche, Cyrus Meche and Murphy Meche; and two sisters, Lula Richard and Viola Lavergne.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
