Obituary
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Julia "Jules" Meche, the former Julia Leger, who passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her residence in Prairie Ronde.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Henry J. Broussard, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Meche was a native of Sunset (Bristol) and a resident of Prairie Ronde since 1950. She retired from St. Landry Parish School Board after 15 years and worked as a clerk in a department store for 7 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.

Survivors include one son, Chester "Bay" Meche of Prairie Ronde and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Willis Meche; her parents, Elridge Leger and the former Marie Courvelle, both natives of Sunset; three brothers, Freddie Leger, Odon Leger, and Olin Leger, Sr.; three sisters, Lucille L. Meche, Celema Stelly and Augusta "Gus" L. Alleman.

Pallbearers were Duplecie Venable, Lenray Leger, Daniel Leger, Gerald Duplechin, Ted Alleman and

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
