L. D. "Dobbin" Herman, 76, a retired farmer, of Blanchard Township, Putnam County, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday in Bluffton Community Hospital. Death was due to a complication of diseases the past 18 months.
A son of Newton B. and Ida (Roether) Herman, he was born in Blanchard Township, Hancock County, Nov. 28, 1889. On Sept. 1, 1910 he married Hazel Flossie Rager who preceded him in death.
Seventeen children were born to the union. Surviving are Mrs. Marvin (Flugga) Riegle, Columbus Grove; Lester L. Herman, Harding Herman, and Melvin Herman, McComb; Calvin Ray Herman, Paul Herman, Eugene Herman, and Milan Herman of Lima; Francis L. Herman, Route 1, Deshler; Mrs. Ralph (Naomi) Butler, and Sam Herman, Leipsic; Mrs. Gerald (Catherine) Diller, Mount Cory. Five children preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Jones Funeral Home, McComb, the Rev. Ronald Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the Harmon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
