Clara Mae Bott Daniel departed this earthly life to join her Heavenly Father on July 17, 1985 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 2 days at the Rush County Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse, KS. This followed a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease and a stroke in June 1985.
Clara was born 2 miles west of McCracken, in a sod house, Aug 15, 1906 to Chess and Maggie (Hayes) Irvin. At a young age she moved with her family to the farm 3 miles north and 1 mile east of Alexander, known as the "Irvin home place."
She attended elementary school in the one room school one mile north of her home. She rode in a horse drawn "school kid wagon" to Alexander to attend high school where she graduated in 1925. She attended normal school at Hays, KS.
She taught school at Bison Grade School from 1926 to 1929. She lived with Alice Ficken's family in Bison.
On Aug 18, 1929 at Bison, she married J. George Bott of Alexander. They made their home in Timken until 1955 when they moved to Alexander.
To this union was born one son Robert Allen on Nov 6, 1941.
George died Apr 19, 1950 in a farm tractor accident.
She married Olen B. Daniel of Alexander on May 1, 1979. They lived in Alexander until their health failed them and in August 1981 they moved into the Long Term Care facility at LaCrosse.
She was a member of the Alexander United Methodist Church and the Alexander United Methodist Women. She was active in her church serving as a Sunday School teacher and on church committees before her health began failing.
She was also a member of the Rush Center Chapter 262, Order of Eastern Star then transferring to the McCracken Chapter 261 Order of Eastern Star for forty years.
She was a loving and caring lady. She dearly loved her family and friends always going out of her way to do something for them. She always thought of others first never saying anything bad about anyone.
She was a loving and caring daughter to her parents until their deaths.
She'll be remembered by many as being an active person who at 68 years was still playing hopscotch and leap frog with Dixie (her granddaughter) and Dixie's friends. She was always eager to babysit for her nieces, nephews, neighbors' and friends' children and especially her granddaughter. She lived life for her granddaughter and the rest of her family. She was always wanting to do something for them.
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Olen of Long Term Care, LaCrosse; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Allen and Linda Joan (Morgan) Bott, Alexander, granddaughter, Dixie Bott, Alexander, step-daughter, Mrs. Bill (Bernice) Edwards, of Almadi, Kuwait; step-sons, David Daniel, ElDorado and Wayne Daniel, Phoenix, AZ; sister, Eunice and her husband Albert North, McCracken; brothers Willard Irviin and his wife, Katherine, Cascade, CO, Chester Irvin and his wife Ruthetta, Alexander, aunt, Elva Warnock, LaCrosse, four nieces, 10 nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She is now free of all pain and frustration from her bout with Parkinson's Disease. She never complained and always had a smile and a wave. She kept her polite, good manners as long as she could speak.
Funeral services were held on Jul 22, 1985 with the Rev. Sam Hooker officiating.
