George W. Miller was born in his parent's home on a farm near Golden City, MO. He was the youngest of three children born to John and Virginia Miles Miller. When he was a teenager, his family moved to a farm about a mile southeast of South Greenfield. His first job was working in a hardware store in Pennsboro, MO. which was owned by Harve Fuqua.

He married Artie Caroline Merrick on June 6, 1910, and they had two sons, Dale, and Leroy. After his father John died in 1918, George moved to the farm and lived there until about 1933, when he moved to Greenfield, MO. to work for Kramer Hardware. In 1948 he moved back to South Greenfield, and remained there until his death. His wife "Carrie" preceded him in death on May 3, 1958.
