HIAWATHA - Services will be Monday at Meek Mortuary here for Mrs. Pearl Barnes, 68, Hiawatha, who died here Friday night in a hospital where she was admitted about 3 hrs. earlier.
She was born April 12,1903 in Decatur County and lived in Brown County since 1912. She lived in the community south of Powhattan many years before she moved to Hiawatha in Feb. of 1968.
She was married to White Barnes June 1, 1932 at Falls City, Neb. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Doyle Barnes, Manhattan; 2 stepsons, Melvin Barnes, El Cajon, Calif., and Donald R. Barnes, Hiawatha; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Tollefson, rural Hiawatha; 3 brothers, Earl Baker, Temple City, Calif., Morris Baker, Seneca, and Guy Baker, Horton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lucille Ross, Salina, Mrs. Zella Burgett, Eagle, Idaho, and Mrs. Villa Calhoun Horton; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Powhattan Cemetery.
