MORRIS K. BAKER
Morris K. Baker, 68, of Seneca passed away Saturday, October 6, 1979, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was transferred there from the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital on September 30. For the past seven years, he had a serious lung and heart condition.

Mr. Baker was born April 23, 1911, on a farm near Decatur, Kansas. His parents were Curtis and Nettie Ann Jellison Baker. When he was a year old, his father died. The family moved near Humboldt, Nebraska, where he grew up. He lived in Sabetha and in Humboldt where he worked on farms and also in a restaurant.

On May 9, 1931, he married Opal Jones in Seneca. They lived first in Nims City, Nebr., later in Sabetha and Wetmore. Mr. baker had worked in body shops and in 1951 they moved to Seneca where he opened Baker Body Shop. He enjoyed the shop, the people, and was "Pops Baker", to many young friends. He liked spending time outdoors and especially fishing. He always enjoyed his family and particularly his three granddaughters.

Surviving are his wife, Opal of the home, two sons, James of Tonganoxie and Gary of Sabetha; one brother, Earl of Temple City, Calif.; two sisters, Zella Burgett of star, Idaho, and Lucille Ross of Salina; and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Beth, on July 9, 1947; two brothers and three sisters.

Services were conducted Tue., October 9, 1979, by Rev. Gordon Epps at the Lauer Funeral Home. The soloist was Gordon Avis, Jr., who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Shall We Gather By the River." The organist, Dorothy M. Randel, also played other favorite selected hymns. Pallbearers were Lowell Elder, Hobert Nutter, Jake Krotzinger, Dick Gafford, Ron Lewis, Mickie Huber. Burial was in the Seneca City cemetery, Seneca. Kansas.
