Lucille Laura Parsons Cowen was born in Fairlield Iowa on the 26th of February 1909. She lived most of her young life in Fairfield, until she met and eventually married Donald Earl Cowen in 1935. They lived in Havelock, and Kinross before her husband took a job in Oak Ridge Tennessee with the Manhattan Project in 1944.
She lived out the rest of her life there, making an enormous amount of friends, and always giving comfort and fellowship to others. One of her biggest delights in life were her Grandchildren. I think it must have added at least 10 to 15 years to her long and healthy life.
"Memaw" as her adoring Grandchildren called her slipped away in her sleep on July 16, 2000. She had a long and happy life. We miss you Memaw, we always will.
