Bertha was the daughter of John Harlan. and Mary Elizabeth (Weidman) Basinger. She married Harvey Edward Boatright in 1917 and they had three children: Mary Lucille, James Edward and Helen Elizabeth.

Bertha J. Boatright, 84, of 4020 S. Chalmers, Bartonville, died at 10:30 a.m. yesterday in Proctor Hospital, Peoria, where she was admitted Friday.
Born Feb. 6, 1898 in Posey County, Ind., she was a daughter of John and Mary Wiedman Basinger. She married Edward Boatright, in Eldorado. He died in 1970, in Enfield.
She was a cook at Peoria State Hospital 10 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of South Side Catholic churches and St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Pearson of Bartonville, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Helen Garrett, of Enfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Martin of Bethalto.
One son, James, one granddaughter; and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in her church, the Rev. Michael Chowning officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lindale Memorial Garden, Eldorado.
