Charles F. Bressner, 78, Passes Away Tuesday
Charles F. Bressner, 78, of Remington, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, after an illness of approximately six months.
Mr. Bressner was born March 6, 1893 in Livingston county, Illinois, the son of John and Emma (Widmer) Bressner. He was married to Freeda Whitehead on March 20, 1919 in Remington. She died August 16, 1966. He lived almost all of his life in the Remington area, retiring from farming this year. He was a member of the Remington United Methodist church, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rites and Knights of Pythis, Remington. He was a 50-year member of the Remington Maconic Lodge 351 and Remington Order of Eastern Star 169.
Survivors include a foster son, James H. Flickner, Remington; four foster grandchildren, Mrs. Scott (Linda) Arvin of Bloomingon, and Charles, Anita and Rhonda Flickner , Remington; and one nephew Earl Bressner of Evansville. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers and was the last of his family.
Funeral services were to be held at the Remington United Methodist church Thursday, June 10, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Milton Petsons officiating. Interment was to be in Remington cemetery. The body was to lie in state at the church for one hour preceding last rites.
Masonic services were held at the Ruston Smith funeral home, Remington, Wednesday evening.
