Dale Edward Bookwalter, 62, of Kankakee, died Wednesday (March 17, 2010) at his home.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memories. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Bookwalter was a custodian for the Kankakee post office, retiring after 20 years of service.
He was born Aug. 19, 1947, in Joliet, the son of Samuel and Beatrice Alderson Bookwalter.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Duffield, whom he married Nov. 23, 1974, in Kankakee; two sons, Dale D. Bookwalter of Missouri and Erick Bookwalter of Kankakee; five daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Lisa and Mark Hebel of Taylorsville, Utah, Dawn Bookwalter of Rensselaer, Ind., Lori Ann Bookwalter and Heaven Dawn Bookwalter, both of Kankakee, and Catherine Bookwalter of Bourbonnais; nine grandchildren; his mother of Braceville; one sister, Shirley Ann Bookwalter of Braceville; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sarah Bookwalter of Johnson City; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Bookwalter of Essex.
Deceased are one grandchild, Jacob; his father; one sister, Jean Bookwalter; and one brother, Donald Bookwalter.
