Beatrice I. Bookwalter, age 89, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017. She was the daughter of John and Cora (nee Krug) Alderson.
Beatrice, along with her husband Sam, owned and operated S.J. Bookwalter Grain in Essex for 25 years. She also worked at Westcom in Gardner for 6 years.
She was a member of the Braceville United Methodist Church & Womans Auxiliary, and the Essex Fire Bells.
Surviving are daughter, Shirley Bookwalter of Braceville; son, Larry (Sara) Bookwalter of Marion; sisters, Betty (Chuck) Christensen and Carol (Pete) Faletti, both of South Wilmington; daughters-in-law, Linda Bookwalter of Rensselaer, Indiana and Shirley Bookwalter of Essex; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, including Dakota Jones, who she raised.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Samuel J. Bookwalter; two sons, Donald Bookwalter and Dale Bookwalter; one daughter, Jean Bookwalter; three grandchildren, Travis Bookwalter, Troy Bookwalter, and Christine Jones; and two brothers, Jack Alderson and LaVerne (Rabbit) Alderson.
