Pvt. John B. Babb was a member of D Company, 192nd Tank Battalion. He fought in the Philippine Islands during the opening months of World War II. He took part in the Bataan Death March and was held as a POW at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan.
He died when the Japanese Hell Ship he was on, the Arisan Maru, was sunk by an American submarine. The Japanese refused to rescue the POWs. Only 9 of the 1803 POWs on the ship survived its sinking.
