Mrs. Elsie "Marie" Babb Adkins, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at 9:05 A.M., at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.

Born October 8, 1916, in Earlington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Archie Lee Babb and Minnie Esther Lipford Babb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edward Adkins on May 2, 1978; a son, James Lee Adkins in 1984; two brothers, Harold Clifton Babb on December 6, 1991, and J. B. Babb in 1946; and by two step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Adkins retired from the Madisonville Country Club where she was a waitress. She was a member of Earlington General Baptist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel, and was active at the Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Robertson of Madisonville; two sons, Herman Adkins Jr. and John C. Adkins, both of Madisonville; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 2:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, 2005, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Adam Cooley, Ryan Lantrip, Jeremy Hibbs, Robert Adkins, Jerry Osborne, and Chris Lancaster.
