J.D. Austin, After Months of Illness, Finds Rest.

Mr. J. D. Austin breathed his last yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at his home on the corner of Fourth and McDowell streets. Mr. Austin was taken ill in December. He had paralysis and then dropsy, death resulting from the latter cause. His sufferings were great, but he bore them with Christian fortitude and was never heard to murmur or complain. Deceased was 56 years of age. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian church, and was a good and true man in all the relations of life, liked and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and nine children, four brothers-Messrs. M.D., W.L., S.J. and T.W. Austin-and three sisters-Mrs. J.W. Yandle, Mrs. J.J. Neal and Miss Dora Austin.

Deceased was insured in the Royal Arcanum for $3,000. The funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the residence by Rev. J.W. Stagg. The pall bearers will be: Messrs. J.C. Long, F.M. Hoover, J.B. McLaughlin, J.L. Harget, D.P. Hunter and Fred C. Munzler.
